About Our Orchestra Program

• We have three (3) concerts each season at The Alex Theater, Glendale

• Rehearsals are on Sundays from 2:30-5:30pm

• Sectionals each quarter with teaching artists

• Concerto competition for current orchestra members

• All students must take part in their school music program

 
How to apply

1. Fill out the application form on the website.
   
   Mail the $35 application check to:
   GYO - Application
   P.O. Box 4401
   Glendale, CA 91222-0401

   You may alternately pay the application fee online with an additional 6% processing fee, or in-person on the day of the audition.

   A QR code can be found below to pay the GYO tuition fee.
   
   Auditions take place throughout the season. Tuition will be prorated.

Auditions are required for both prospective and returning members.

Auditions will be held on SUNDAY, MAY 31st with some additional opportunities offered throughout the season.

You will receive an e-mail with your individual audition time once your application is received.

Auditions will consist of:

• Scales (see the audition excerpt packet for specific details on which scales/octaves to perform)

• Audition Excerpts

• Sight-reading

Each audition will be approximately 10 minutes in length.
All applicants will receive audition results by e-mail.

Audition Excerpts

Tuition

• $900 annual tuition, which includes 5 concert tickets for each concert
  Payment plans can be arranged with the orchestra manager if needed.

  (Tuition will be prorated when joining mid-season)

• Similar to the application fee, tuition is payable online or by mail. A 6% processing fee will be added to online payments.

Scholarships

Some scholarships are available on a need basis. Please indicate your interest on the application form.
